Golden West Tap Takeover

On May 20th, Mayfair Lane welcomes Leederville’s oldest new brewery for a good ol’ tap takeover.

The ‘Golden West Aerated Water Company’ had a rich local history dating back 120 years on Carr & Newcastle streets, before being bought and dissolved in the 70’s. In this delicious new chapter, the Golden West name has been revived as a craft brewery. Armed with the desire to bring locally produced craft beverages back to Leederville, the creators felt that embodying and rejuvenating the Golden West brand was a key ingredient for the success of a local brewing company.
From 4pm, Golden West founders Daniel Burt and Rafa Moreno along with head brewer Tim Wren will be in the bar sharing some banter and a few brews.

On tap you’ll find four of Golden West’s finest brews, which will be on pour till the kegs run dry.

Kwencher Pale Ale (5.0%)
Fresh IPA (5.8%)
Smooth Bourbon Vanilla porter (6.5%)

No bookings required, just stroll on in.

The Champagne Chronicles – Chapter Four – The Revival of Oak

We have the Roman armies of Julius Caesar to thank for propagating the fortuitous discovery that wine stored in oak barrels somehow tasted better after time in barrels than it did before.
Oak has always played a role in the story of Champagne, and prior to the nineteen fifties, 180 coopers supplied the region with the huge number of oak barrels required for the primary fermentation of champagne’s base wines. Two full time coopers remain.
These base wines, fermented and stored in oak acquire textures, aromas and flavours that are an integral part of the DNA of many premium champagnes.
Join us for chapter 4 of the Champagne Chronicles as we explore why oak fell from favour, the houses that never abandoned their love of oak, and how other domains have come full circle to rediscover the benefits of oak at different stages in the elaboration of champagne.
This fascinating masterclass features 8 outstanding Champagnes including-

  • Franck Bonville Les Belles Voyes
Plus five more cuvées that will show you how it’s done when it comes to restrained, masterful use of oak in the creation of some of the best Champagnes currently on the market.

Make Your Own Gin

Join us for one of the most unique gin masterclasses Perth has to offer! Our monthly ‘Make Your Own Gin’ class allows you to produce your very own bespoke Gin, whilst delving into the unique world of flavours and botanicals. During the class, not only will you learn about the different varieties of gin, but you will 
get to taste a selection from around the world and learn how to make your very own 
gin at home! A good party trick to add to the collection!

Classes are around 1 1/2 – 2 hours long including share plates, a jar of your freshly created gin and a whole lot of fun! Our classes are very popular & sell out almost straight away, so we also give people the option of booking a private gin class at a time that suits them! Minimum of 10 guests per class, maximum of 16.
